Boon Chuan Lim

Boon Chuan Lim currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer at Oxford SimCell Ltd, a spin-out from Oxford University focused on developing genome-free, non-replicating bacterial cells for healthcare applications, since June 2021. Prior to this role, Boon Chuan Lim completed a DPhil at the University of Oxford, where the thesis addressed molecular diagnosis of infectious diseases and cancers through synthetic biology, with a focus on SARS-Cov-2 detection and a novel cancer biomarker platform. Experience as a Scientific Consultant at Oxsed involved co-inventing a rapid diagnostic kit for COVID-19. Other roles included serving as a Venture Consultant at YAN Capital L.P. and founding the project Spectre Bio, which aimed to apply engineered bacteria in innovative ways. Boon Chuan Lim holds a First Class Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from The University of Edinburgh and has a strong academic background, including GCE A levels and SPM with top grades.
