Melvin Young

Melvin Young is an accomplished staff scientist at PacBio since October 2019, where responsibilities include coordinating enzyme development for short and long-read NGS platforms. Prior experience includes serving as a senior scientist and a scientist at PacBio, focusing on the modeling and design of organic and protein systems. Melvin held postdoctoral researcher and graduate student researcher positions at Baylor College of Medicine from March 2013 to July 2019, emphasizing in silico rational design of protein interactions using Rosetta modeling software. Earlier experience includes roles as an undergraduate research assistant at The University of Texas at Austin and as an intern at e-MDs. Melvin earned a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Baylor College of Medicine and a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from The University of Texas at Austin.
