Allison MacLean has a diverse work experience in the legal and compliance field. Allison began their career as an Articling Clerk at Stewart McKelvey in 2001 and later became an Associate Lawyer. In 2011, they joined Blue Cross Life Insurance Company of Canada as the Director of Legal Services, Chief Compliance Officer, and Corporate Secretary, where they served until 2017. Allison then moved to Coast Capital Savings as a Senior Manager in Regulatory Compliance Management from 2018 to 2019. Currently, they are the Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary at Pacific Blue Cross since April 2019.

Allison MacLean has a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours from Mount Allison University, obtained in 1994. Allison then pursued a Diplome superieur d'etudes francaises from the University of Strasbourg in 1995. In 2001, they completed their Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from the Université de Moncton. Lastly, they attended York University - Osgoode Hall Law School for an Intensive Trial Advocacy Workshop in an unspecified year before 2005.
