Art Martinez serves as the Public Safety Commissioner for the State of California since July 2017, collaborating with local law enforcement and keeping Assemblyman Mike Gipson informed of police activity while addressing current issues. Additionally, Martinez has been involved in the Neighborhood Justice Program with the Los Angeles City Attorney since January 2015, focusing on restorative justice. In a security role since February 2003 with the Pacific Maritime Association, Martinez performs security functions at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, working in conjunction with local law enforcement and Homeland Security. Education includes a degree in Automotive Engineering Technology from Banning Senior High School and ongoing self-taught studies, along with studies at Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala.
