Sadruddin Hashwani

Mr. Sadruddin Hashwani belongs to an illustrious industrialist family of Karachi. He started his business career in 1960 as a trader who, along with his brother, launched their maiden venture “Hassan Ali Company”. In the early 1970, the Hashwanis were acknowledged as “Cotton Kings of Pakistan”, besides being leading exporter of rice and other commodities. In the aftermath of the nationalization drive.

Mr. Hashwani diverted his resources towards other business ventures, notably the Hotel industry. In 1973, he launched the construction of Holiday Inn Islamabad (Now Marriot Hotel), which was opened in 1978 under the corporate umbrella of Hashwani Hotels Limited. This was followed by Holiday Inn Karachi (Now Marriott Hotel) that was inaugurated in the year 1981.

In 1985 Mr. Hashwani made a successful Bid for the majority shares of Pakistan Services Limited, which then owned 4 numbers Inter-Continental Hotels (Now Pearl Continental Hotels) that was the largest chain of 5-star hotels in Pakistan.

Besides being Director in different Hashoo Group of Companies, Mr. Hashwani is also on the Board of M/s Jubilee General Insurance Company Limited.
