Tim Smedley

Tim Smedley is a prolific author and climate communicator with extensive experience in writing and editing. Currently serving as a book author for Pan Macmillan, Smedley's notable works include "Clearing the Air: The Beginning and the End of Air Pollution," which was nominated for the Royal Society Science Book Prize, and "The Last Drop: Solving The World's Water Crisis," recognized as one of The Times Top 100 Books of the Year. In February 2025, Smedley took on the role of climate columnist for Prospect Magazine, providing guidance on the climate crisis through fortnightly columns. Additionally, Smedley is a ghostwriter for environmental leaders and the editor of "The New Climate," an online magazine aimed at broadening the discourse on climate issues. Smedley's freelance contributions have appeared in prominent publications such as the BBC, The Guardian, and The Financial Times, while previous roles include features writer for People Management magazine and staff writer at GTI Specialist Publishers. Smedley holds an MA in International Cinema and a BA in English Literature from The University of Sheffield.
