Amanda Parkes has a diverse range of work experience. Amanda is currently working as an Assistant Professor/Lecturer at Harvard University since January 2023. Prior to that, they held the position of Chief Innovation Officer at PANGAIA and FTL · Future Tech Lab from December 2018 and May 2017, respectively. Amanda was also the Chief of Technology & Research at Manufacture NY from July 2013 to November 2016. Amanda served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University Department of Architecture from September 2010 to May 2015. In addition, they founded Skinteractive Studio in September 2010 and held the role of Founder until September 2014. Amanda also co-founded Bodega Algae and served as the CTO from 2008 to September 2013. Amanda has also worked as a Curator at NYSCI from 2010 to 2012. Earlier in their career, they were a Research Assistant/PhD candidate at the Tangible Media Group, MIT Media Lab from September 2002 to June 2009. Amanda started their career as an Exhibit Developer at Exploratorium in 1999.

Amanda Parkes completed their education at two prestigious institutions. Amanda pursued a PhD in Tangible Media from MIT Media Lab, from 2002 to 2009. Prior to that, they attended Stanford University to obtain their BSE/BA degree, specializing in Mechanical Engineering (Product Design) and Art History.
