Karim Mikhail

Karim Mikhail is a skilled professional in development, outreach, and research, currently serving as the Director of Development and Outreach at Paper Airplanes, Inc., since June 2022, focusing on enhancing educational curricula and fostering global partnerships. Simultaneously, Karim contributes as a Research Intern at UAB School of Medicine, investigating the role of the BIN1 genetic risk factor in Alzheimer's disease under Dr. Erik Roberson. Past experiences include an internship at Buiga Sunrise Community Centre, where assistance was provided in maternal health and science education, a fellowship at the UAB Sparkman Center for Global Health focused on cancer care delivery in Egypt, and participation as an Amgen Scholar at Columbia University working on a connectome project. Prior research includes a role at the O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center studying glioma pathogenesis. Karim is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, expected to graduate in 2025.
