We are looking for a senior-level design system engineer to join our team. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect and build reusable UI components for Canopy, our in-house design system
  • Contribute to key technical decisions related to design system components and features
  • Build and maintain the tooling used by the design system team to build, test and distribute components
  • Build and maintain the tooling used to manage our design tokens
  • Build and maintain the tooling used to publish design system documentation
  • Work with consumers in engineering & design to ensure the design system is meeting their day-to-day needs
  • Coordinate with consuming engineers to ensure component integrations and migrations are smooth
  • Mentor engineers on proper component usage, especially with regards to improving accessibility
  • Review other DS engineers’ code for correctness, style, and alignment with design system best practices

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years developing & architecting components (including maintaining build tooling, testing, documentation, and publish/release pipeline)
  • Professional React and Typescript experience
  • High level of CSS Expertise
  • Understands the fundamentals of HTML and vanilla JS
  • The ability to apply a customer and product-focused mindset to prioritize effectively, making well-reasoned tradeoffs between speed and quality
  • Knowledge of web best practices and changes to accessibility guidelines
  • Strong understanding of UX/UI concepts and a demonstrated record of design and product sensibility
  • The ability to work closely across teams (and time-zones) and manage dependencies
  • Must have permanent residency in the U.S.

  • Experience with Storybook, Gatsby, and Sanity CMS

Base Salary:

 Base: $145K - $195K
