Jakub Czerny started their career in 2014 as an intern at Medtronic, where they developed a web application for distribution of access codes for the company's customers and wrote a bachelor thesis on the development of an activity recognition algorithm. In 2015, they were a student assistant for Linear Algebra at Maastricht University and also participated in a Medtronic extracurricular program, covering topics such as UX design, project management, app development, web development, machine learning and security of applications. In 2016, they worked as a Full Stack Web Developer at Peergrade, developing a world wide educational platform facilitating peer evaluation. Jakub also worked on a machine learning project at greenUAV as part of a course. In 2017, they worked as a Machine Learning Engineer at Building Radar, curating data and building machine learning models within both computer vision and natural language processing. Jakub also worked on a German news articles classifier that outperformed human accuracy. In 2019, they became a Data Scientist at Automation Hero, Inc, where they developed strategies for information extraction from scanned documents and leveraged cutting-edge deep learning architectures to tackle OCR tasks. Jakub also contributed to the development of internal tools for artificial data generation and worked on educational material about machine learning, neural networks and deep learning. Currently, Jakub Czerny is a Machine Learning Engineer at PARASHIFT - Intelligent Document Processing.
Jakub Czerny completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Data Science and Knowledge Engineering at Maastricht University from 2013 to 2016. Jakub then pursued a Master of Science (MSc) in Mathematical Modelling and Computation at DTU - Technical University of Denmark from 2016 to 2019. During this time, they also completed an exchange program at Technical University of Munich, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) in Data Science from 2017 to 2018.
