Job description

Job Duties: Perform maintenance and repair activities on various pieces of heavy construction equipment and Marine equipment, including and not limited to Cat, Liebherr, Bobcat, Komatsu.  Diagnoses, services and repairs various systems that are found on pieces of heavy equipment. To work and train under the HeadLead Mechanic. Applicants must live within 50 miles of Mobile, AL. to be considered for this position.

  • Must have experience with heavy machinery and some electrical service.

  • Make repairs and maintenance of engines, compressors, pumps, and motors.

  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and electronic diagnostic equipment

  • Must have an understanding of equipment repair manuals

  • Performing lockout/tagout, starting/stopping of equipment, and perform equipment checks.

  • Perform job duties in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Must adhere to company policies and procedures

  • Assures that machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained for efficient production.

  • General upkeep of facilities and equipment including engines/compressors, company vehicle, shops and tool rooms.

  • Excellent communicator, both written and oral.

  • Performs other functions/duties as required. Additional Duties: Complete inspections and makes recommendations for repairs maintaining cost effectiveness and reduced down-time.

Job Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience with standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment and engines.
  • Experience on Marine Equipment a plus
  • Knowledge of safety issues in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies used in on-site repair of heavy equipment.
  • Ability to Pass a drug test.
  • Communication skills with other mechanics, office personnel and on-site foremen and operators
  • General welding skills
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic malfunctions
  • Read manuals and schematics
  • Skilled in the use of:
  • Variety of hand tools
  • Mechanized tools, jacks, cranes and hoists
  • Diagnostic testing and tuning equipment
  • Must have own tool set
  • Work after hours, and on call hours if needed.
  • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)
  • Current and Valid Drivers License
