Suzanne Merrills

Director Community Services at Parkland County

Suzanne Merrills has a diverse work experience in the field of community services, recreation, and culture. Suzanne has worked at Parkland County since 2010, starting as a Community Development Coordinator and progressing to roles such as Supervisor, Interim Director, and currently as Director of Community Services. Suzanne also co-owned Peaks First Aid & Aquatic Services from 2007 onwards. Prior to that, they served as a Child and Youth Coordinator at TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre from 2009 to 2010 and as an Aquatic Supervisor at YMCA of Northern Alberta from 2004 to 2005.

Suzanne Merrills has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies from the University of Alberta, which they obtained between 1999 and 2004. In 2014, they pursued further education at the Justice Institute of British Columbia and obtained a Certificate in Emergency Management Exercise Design, which they completed in 2018. Additionally, in August 2021, they obtained a certification in National Lifeguard - Pool from the Lifesaving Society Alberta and Northwest Territories.
