Sean G. Yates

Sean G. Yates has held various roles in the field of medical and transfusion medicine. Sean G. currently serves as the Medical Director of Coagulation and Patient Blood Management Services at UT Southwestern Medical Center, a position they started in April 2022. Prior to this, they were the Associate Medical Director of Transfusion Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, starting in November 2020.

From October 2021, Sean also became the Medical Director of Coagulation and Apheresis Services at Parkland Hospital. Before that, they worked at The University of Texas Medical Branch as the Laboratory Director for various campuses from January 2019 to October 2020. Sean G. also held the position of Associate Medical Director of Transfusion Medicine at the same institution from August 2017 to September 2020.

In 2016, Sean joined Henry Ford Health System as the Medical Director of the Special Coagulation Laboratory and also served as the Associate Medical Director of Transfusion Medicine. Prior to that, from July 2015 to June 2016, they were an Assistant Instructor of Transfusion Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Sean G. Yates received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Texas Tech University in 2005. Sean G. then went on to earn a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston) in 2011. From 2011 to 2014, they completed a residency in Clinical Pathology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Following that, they pursued a fellowship in Transfusion Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center from 2014 to 2015.
