As far back as Kyle Smith can remember, he’s always had an affinity for advocacy. As an indispensable member of the Calgary office’s Litigation team, Kyle’s practice includes Insurance, Commercial, and Intellectual Property litigation.
Before joining Parlee, Kyle had a bustling litigation practice in Toronto, but the benefits of living in the west, especially for his burgeoning family, were difficult to ignore. Kyle was excited to bring his practice out west, as was the whole Parlee team. “Kyle’s talents as an orator and litigator are astounding,” affirms Directing Partner, Connor Glynn.
Kyle’s practice is one that is based on fortitude, intellect and strategy. Having conducted one of the longest civil trials in Canadian history, clocking in at 106 trial days over 2.5 years, Kyle knows what commitment looks like. He also understands that excellence in law is based upon the lawyer’s ability to truly understand a client’s challenges and needs, along with appropriately setting expectations, explaining the process in detail, and understanding how to connect with a judge.
Kyle’s prowess as a lawyer was officially recognized in Ontario, as he was named a Certified Specialist, (C.S.) for his work in Civil Litigation. At the time of receiving this honour, (which is the equivalent of Alberta’s Queen’s Counsel designation), Kyle was the youngest lawyer in Ontario to hold the designation.
