Ashor Sarupen currently serves as the Deputy Minister of Finance at the National Treasury of South Africa since June 2024. Since May 2019, Ashor has been a prominent member of the Democratic Alliance, holding positions as First Deputy Chairperson and Member of Parliament, and previously as Third Deputy Chairperson of the DA Federal Council, where responsibilities included electoral strategy and coalition negotiations. Prior experience includes Chief of Staff in the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa and several roles within the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, including Provincial Campaign Strategy Advisor and Member of the Finance Committee. Ashor has an extensive academic background, earning multiple degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand and GIBS Business School, with focuses in International Business, Corporate Strategy, and Finance. Additional qualifications include certificates in Legislative Drafting and Leadership Coaching, as well as specialized training from the World Bank.
