Mat Cuthbert

Mat Cuthbert serves as the Head of Policy for the Democratic Alliance since April 2023, where responsibilities include formulating evidence-based policy and leading a multi-disciplinary team. Additionally, Cuthbert has been a Member of Parliament for the Republic of South Africa since May 2019, focusing on legislation analysis and departmental performance evaluations. Prior experience includes serving as a Municipal Councillor in the City of Ekurhuleni from April 2016 to May 2019, and as a Constituency Officer for the Democratic Alliance from March 2015 to June 2016. Cuthbert holds a Master's degree in Management with a focus on Public Policy from the University of the Witwatersrand and various other qualifications in governance, legislative drafting, and political science from prestigious institutions such as McGill University and the University of Cape Town.
