Director, Cloud Engineering and DevOps at Parsable

Steve Woodruff has a diverse range of work experience in the field of cloud engineering, DevOps, and software development.

Starting in 1996, they worked as an I/T Architect at IBM Global Services, managing content hosting servers and performing UNIX system administration tasks.

From 2000 to 2011, Steve held various roles at Motorola Mobile Devices, including Engineering Manager and Engineering Section Manager. Steve managed teams of engineers and led process improvement initiatives.

In 2011, Steve joined SPARC, LLC as a Sr. Configuration Manager, where they served as the Product Owner for Knappsack, a mobile application management platform. Steve focused on product vision, collaboration with developers, and gathering user feedback.

From 2014 to 2017, Steve worked as the Director of DevOps at SpareFoot, a self-storage booking company. Steve was responsible for software development and enhancing the company's DevOps practices.

At Catalytic Data Science from 2017 to 2020, Steve served as the Director of DevOps, leading a team that developed a cloud platform to support life scientists' research and innovation.

From 2020 to 2022, they worked as a Senior DevOps Engineer at Element 84, focusing on CI/CD pipelines, automating tasks, and providing support for a geospatial project.

Steve then joined Tackle.io in 2022 as a Staff DevOps Engineer. In this role, they led strategic initiatives, such as migrating services to Kubernetes/EKS and implementing GitOps using Argo CD.

Currently, Steve is the Director of Cloud Engineering and DevOps at Parsable, where they aim to improve the productivity and safety of frontline industrial workers through digital tools and connectivity. Companies like Heineken and Grupo Bimbo rely on Parsable's mobile-first platform, Connected Worker, which Steve oversees.

Steve Woodruff obtained their M.S. degree in Information Systems Management from Keller Graduate School of Management of DeVry University in 2007. Prior to that, they received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Illinois State University in 1996.

In addition to their formal education, Steve has obtained multiple certifications. In 2015, they received the Duolingo Spanish Fluency certifications for both Beginner and Elementary levels. Steve also obtained the CompTIA Linux certification, LPIC-1 certification, SUSE Certified Linux Administrator certification, and SaltStack Certified Engineer certification in the same year.

More recently, in 2021, Steve obtained the AWS Certified Developer - Associate certification. In 2022, they achieved the HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate (002) certification. In 2020, they acquired the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certification. Lastly, in 2016, Steve became a Certified LeSS Practitioner through The LeSS Company.
