Sam is the Head of Corporate Governance, Risk, and Responsible Practice.

Prior to PAI, Sam was a member of the technical staff at the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), the global standard-setting body formed by the IFRS Foundation in 2021 to streamline corporate sustainability reporting aimed at investors and capital markets. Sam led research efforts in the Technology & Communications sector, working with investor, company, and civil society stakeholders to improve reporting guidance on topics like corporate governance and the social impacts of technology. He played a key role in developing updates to the SASB Standards for industry-based disclosures and drafting IFRS S1, the ISSB’s foundational Standard.

Prior to the ISSB, Sam worked for over ten years in the technology industry, most recently on the UN Affairs team at Microsoft. Previously, he led the communications program for the launch of the AI Now Institute at NYU, was an account manager at a PR agency specializing in B2B technology startups, and worked in the legal department at Google.

Sam holds an MBA from NYU Stern, where he received the Anindya Ghose faculty scholarship, and a BA from Williams College.
