Traveling Vet Assistant - Nomadic Neuters

The Veterinary Assistant (VA) will work under the direction of the attending Veterinarian and Licensed Veterinary Technician to provide high-quality care of cats from intake to discharge through our Nomadic Neuters Program. Depending on case load and travel time to and from clinic location, hours will range from 8-12 per shift. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with staff and volunteers to set up and break down MASH clinic operations.

  • Facilitate intake and pick up process for volume client patients.

  • Conduct surgical prep including sanitizing of instruments and preparing operating room.

  • Monitor patient recovery post-surgery.

  • Coordinate client data entry of patient information and clinic notes in collaboration with the Clinic Coordinator.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to clients.

  • Provide general oversight and guidance to volunteers.

  • Perform clinic cleaning and sanitizing, including monitoring inventory.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • High quality, high volume spay/neuter experience required.

  • Have exceptional communication skills; be willing and able to work effectively and compassionately with all personality types from all walks of life.

  • Be comfortable working at a fast pace as well as standing on your feet for long stretches of time.

  • Must have passion for animal welfare and compassion for all animals, with the drive and devotion to end pet over-population and the over-crowding in area shelters.

  • Possess exceptional organizational skills - attention to detail and ability to prioritize are a must.

  • Be able to lift 40lbs.

Contract Details:

  • Contract (10-15 hours per month).

  • Shifts are generally 8-12 hours, 1 day per month plus travel time.

  • Various locations in South Puget Sound & Olympic

  • Availability on the first Tuesday of every month required.

  • Salary range: $22-$25/hr.
