Kaat Vanderjeugt is a Preservation Technician at the American Battle Monuments Commission since November 2014, where the focus is on developing the preservation program and protecting cultural and historic resources. Kaat also represents cemetery associates on the Superintendents Leadership Council and provides visitor services as an Executive Assistant and Interpretive Guide at Flanders Field American Cemetery. Additionally, Kaat participates in the Understanding Sacrifice Program, a collaboration with National History Day. Since April 2015, Kaat serves as an official city and museum guide in Ieper and as a museum guide at the Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917. Previous experience includes teaching high school history and social education and working as a research assistant at the Passchendaele Archives. Kaat holds a Bachelor and Master of History from KU Leuven, a Master of Arts in Archives from Vrije Universiteit Brussel, a History Teacher Training diploma, and an official guiding course specialization.
