J. Shannon Piper has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Starting in 1992, they worked in Electronic Systems Technology for the United States Air Force for ten years. Following that, from 2002 to 2006, they served in the US Air Force Reserve, specifically in the field of Public Health. In 2002, they also worked as an Instrumentation and Telemetry Lead for the Department of Defence.

Currently, since August 2021, they hold the position of Project Manager at Passport Technology, a leading developer of technology-based solutions for regulated payment, gaming, and financial services markets. J. Shannon Piper holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Organizational Management from Ashford University. Furthermore, they pursued studies in Electronic Systems Technology at the Community College of the Air Force. In 2021, Shannon began their education at V School, where they are currently studying Full Stack Web Development. In terms of certifications, Shannon completed the V School Web Development Course and obtained the Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute in July 2008.
