Alex McDermott

Alex McDermott is an Officer Cadet in the Northumbrian Universities Officer Training Corps since October 2022. Additionally, Alex participates in a 10-month Masterclass program with the Patchwork Foundation, which includes skills workshops and sessions led by prominent figures in politics and media. As an Outreach Officer and member of the President's Committee with The Durham Union Society, Alex engages in various outreach activities. Previous experiences include involvement in Amazon's Spring Insight Program, serving as a Member of the UK Youth Parliament with The British Youth Council from June 2018 to September 2020, and a summer internship with the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority where policy writing was a key responsibility. Currently pursuing a BA in Politics and International Relations at Durham University, Alex also has a background from The Ecclesbourne School, attending from 2015 to 2022.
