Sandrine Moreira Rousseau has a diverse background in bioinformatics and genomics. Sandrine is currently the Head of Bioinformatics at PathoQuest since March 2023. Prior to this, they worked as the Clinical Genomic and Bioinformatic laboratory lead at Institut national de santé publique du Québec (INSPQ) from December 2017. Sandrine'sresponsibilities included developing solutions for the identification and analysis of pathogens, implementing genomic clinical tests, optimizing workflows, and analyzing clinical genomic results. Sandrine was also responsible for implementing the SARS-CoV-2 surveillance program in Quebec and was a Co-PI in CANCOGeN, a pan-Canadian surveillance project.
Before joining INSPQ, Sandrine worked as an Associate Professor at Université de Montréal starting from December 2019. Sandrine'smain goal in this role was to accelerate the translation of genomic and bioinformatic innovations from academic laboratories to clinical tests for identifying and surveilling infectious agents. One of their notable projects involved developing a universal diagnostic test for identifying any pathogen directly from clinical samples.
Sandrine also gained research experience during their postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University in the City of New York from January to December 2017. Prior to that, they worked as a bioinformatics doctoral candidate at Université de Montréal from May 2010 to December 2016. During this time, they also served as a teaching assistant. Sandrine'searliest work experience was as a bioinformatician at Institut Pasteur from January 2002 to April 2010.
Sandrine Moreira Rousseau has an extensive education history in the field of bio-informatics. Sandrine obtained their Doctorate degree in Bio-informatics from Université de Montréal, where they studied from 2010 to 2016. Prior to that, they pursued a Master's degree in Bio-informatics from Université de Rouen from 1999 to 2001. Sandrine also holds a Maitrise degree in Molecular and Cellular Genetics from Pierre and Marie Curie University, which they completed from 1998 to 1999. In addition, Sandrine earned a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Pierre and Marie Curie University, where they studied from 1997 to 1998.
