Dee C. has a strong background in healthcare and public health. Dwana "Dee" started their career at UnitedHealth Group as a Sr. Manager of Healthcare Quality Improvement, where they worked from 2000 to 2008. After that, they joined the Maryland Department of Human Resources as an Administrator, focusing on the Diabetes Prevention and Control Program. In 2011, Dee joined the Georgia Department of Public Health as a Health Systems Director. Currently, they are the National Network Director for the Patient Advocate Foundation, where they lead the SelfMade Health Network/CDC Disparity Network and focuses on health equity.

Dwana "Dee" C. pursued their education with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, majoring in Pre-Medicine with a focus on Biology and a minor in Chemistry. This academic journey began in 1990 and concluded in 1993. After a gap of several years, they then attended the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health from 2004 to 2005, where they studied Public Health. Lastly, in 2006 and 2007, Dee pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Community Health at Old Dominion University.
