Jeffrey Tom has a diverse work experience in the healthcare field. Jeffrey started their career in 2003 as a Pediatric Resident at Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA. Jeffrey then worked as a Pediatrician at Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center from 2006 to 2008. Most recently, in 2022, Jeffrey joined the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) as a member of the Advisory Panel on Healthcare Delivery and Disparities Research. This role includes advising and assisting in identifying national priorities and establishing a patient-centered research agenda.

In 2006, they earned a Master's Degree in Clinical Research from the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine. Additionally, they obtained a certification called the American Board of Pediatrics from the American Board of Pediatrics in 2006, although the specific month is not known.
