Since his arrival in 1998, Leon has led the design of several of Payette’s major teaching, research and healthcare projects, including the laboratory renovation for the Schepens Eye Research Institute, which won an AIA Honor Award for Interior Architecture. Leon plans and designs spaces for healing, education and research.
Leon believes that design is found between the specifics of each project (client, site, program) and the core realm of architecture (knowledge, expertise, research and inspiration). His work is characterized by two aspects: it spans across a broad range of scales — from the campus master plan to the detail — and is driven by a passion for collaboration — with clients, colleagues, consultants and artists.
