Post-doctoral Researcher On Climate And Energy at PBL Planbureau voor de Leefomgeving

Mark Dekker is a post-doctoral researcher at Planbureau voor de Leefomgeving (PBL) since October 2021, focusing on long-term climate and energy mitigation pathways within the IMAGE modelling team, in collaboration with Utrecht University, as part of the H2020 project European Climate and Energy Modeling Forum (ECEMF). Prior to this role, Mark Dekker completed a PhD in Applied Mathematics at Utrecht University, where the dissertation investigated spreading phenomena in complex systems and applied complexity theory to real-world issues like COVID-19 and climate tipping points. Earlier experiences include research on cyclone evolution at KNMI, leadership as chairman of a student association, and tutoring secondary school students. Mark Dekker holds multiple degrees from Utrecht University in Physics, Astronomy, Mathematics, and Climate Physics, complemented by a minor in Geophysics from The University Centre in Svalbard.
