Peter Sommerfield is an accomplished maritime and safety professional with extensive experience in marine compliance and health and safety management. Currently serving as the Lead Marine Compliance Manager at Peel Ports Group since January 2023, Peter has previously held significant roles including SHEQ Adviser at Gardline Limited and Senior Health and Safety Manager at Norse Group Limited, where responsibilities included ensuring compliance with health and safety laws and leading a team of specialists. Earlier positions include Employee Representative Operations Manager at Equinor UK Ltd and Marine Operations Manager at Statoil UK Ltd, alongside a robust maritime career as a Master Mariner and whole-time firefighter. Peter holds an HND in Nautical Science from South Shields School of Maritime Studies.
