Mónica Taveira Pires has a diverse work experience. Mónica has been a full-time Professor at the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa since September 2003, where they also serve as the Scientific Coordination for the Clinical Psychology Masters Degree. In addition, they have been a Researcher at the CIP/UAL Psychology Research Center - UAL since September 2004. Mónica has also worked as the Psychology Internships Coordinator and Peer Reviewer for "Psique" at the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa. Mónica served as a University Scientific Council Member from June 2013 to July 2016.
Outside of their role at the university, Mónica has reviewed articles for various journals including the Family Relations Journal, Frontiers Psychology Journal, Journal of Health Psychology, and PeerJ Journal. Mónica has also worked as a Reviewer for The Journal of Moral Education at Taylor & Francis. Mónica has been a Supervisor of professional psychology internships at OPP Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses in their private practice, and has served as a Professor at the Post-graduate course of Paliative Care at Escola superior de enfermagem S. Francisco das Misericórdias. Furthermore, they have worked as a Counsellor and Trainer at APPCPC - Associação Portuguesa de Psicoterapia Centrada na Pessoa e Counselling. To add, Mónica has had extensive experience in clinical psychology, psychotherapy, child therapy, and parenting counseling at Clinica Baptista Fernandes and Clinica de Santos. Mónica continues to contribute to academia and the field of psychology through their various roles and research endeavors.
Mónica Taveira Pires has a diverse education history. Mónica began their studies at the Universidade do Algarve from 2006 to 2011, where they earned a PsyD in Health Psychology. Prior to that, from 2003 to 2008, they attended the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa and obtained a Post-Graduation in Counselling and Therapeutic Intervention - APPCPC, specializing in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
In 1998 to 2003, Mónica enrolled at Ispa - Instituto Universitário, where they completed their studies and received a Dr. degree in Clinical Psychology. Mónica also holds a Bachelor's Degree (B.S.Ed.) in Educational Sciences with a focus on Early Childhood Education from Escola Superior de Educação João de Deus, which they obtained from 1994 to 1997.
Additionally, Mónica took various advanced courses to enhance their knowledge. In 2015 to 2016, they pursued a course in Statistics/advanced course in structural equation models - development and evaluation with SPSS/AMOS at UNAVE - Universidade de Aveiro. Lastly, in 2017, they attended a workshop at Utrecht University titled "Introduction to R: How to get started," focusing on Statistics.
