Dean Lappi

Dean Lappi has over 20 years of experience in technical writing and documentation. Dean is currently working as a Principal Technical Writer at Pegasystems, where they are responsible for the Pega Deployment Manager and DevOps documentation domains. In this role, they also serve as a liaison between the Product Owner and the Pega Platform Content and Tools teams.

Before joining Pegasystems, Dean worked at Anchore as a Principal Technical Writer. Prior to that, they were a Senior Technical Writer at ServiceNow, where they built the new ServiceNow UI Builder documentation from scratch using DITA processes with Oxygen in a GIT environment.

Dean also spent time at Qlik's Lund office in Sweden as a Senior Technical Writer, writing API developer documentation for Qlik Sense on Kubernetes, Cloud Editions, and Windows. In this role, they used MadCap Flare, Git Extensions, Jenkins, and JIRA for various documentation-related tasks.

Earlier in their career, Dean worked as a Lead Technical Writer at Vibes, handling various documentation responsibilities. Dean also had a significant tenure at IBM, where they held multiple roles, including Web Content Manager for IBM developerWorks and Information Developer for IBM/COGNOS. During their time at IBM, they successfully managed the publication of complex articles and created XML-based documentation using FrameMaker.

Before IBM, Dean worked as a Senior Technical Writer at United Defense L.P., where they authored an SGML-based, interactive electronic technical manual for the U.S. Army Crusader next-generation self-propelled howitzer weapon program. Dean also worked as a Technical Writer/Illustration Expert at Fawn Engineering and as a Technical Writer at TeamQuest Corporation.

Dean Lappi obtained an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in English from Mesabi Range Community and Technical College from 1991 to 1993. Dean then pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English at St. Cloud State University, completing it between 1993 and 1995. Continuing their education at St. Cloud State University, Dean earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in English from 1995 to 1997. In addition to their formal education, Dean Lappi obtained a certification as a Pega Certified Systems Architect from Pegasystems in June 2022.
