Katja Selkimäki-Gray has extensive work experience in the field of international development, particularly in the areas of civil society, partnerships, and HIV/AIDS. Katja is currently the Head of International Portfolio at Pelastakaa Lapset ry - Save the Children Finland, a position they have held since July 2022. Previously, they served as the Senior Portfolio Manager and thematic adviser for civil society and partnerships at the same organization from November 2021 to July 2022. Prior to that, they were the Portfolio Manager for Asia and thematic adviser for civil society and partnerships from January 2018 to November 2021.
Before joining Save the Children Finland, Katja worked at Save the Children Finland from 2010 to 2018, where they held various roles. Katja was the Grants and Business Development Manager for Asia from March 2013 to January 2018, and the Grant Manager for Western Africa & Russia from August 2010 to March 2013.
Katja also gained experience working in Vietnam. Katja was a Technical Adviser for HIV/AIDS and Harm reduction at HAARP Ausaid Vietnam from May 2009 to May 2010. Prior to that, they served as an Activity Manager for Health at AusAID Vietnam from October 2008 to April 2009. Katja began their career as an HIV/AIDS specialist at UNDP Vietnam from October 2005 to December 2007.
Katja Selkimäki-Gray pursued their education in a chronological manner. In 1997, they enrolled at the University of Sussex, where they studied Sociology with Development Studies in the School of African and Asian Studies. Katja graduated from this bachelor's program in the year 2000. Later on, starting from 2005, Katja joined the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London, to pursue an MSc in Public Health with a specialization in Health Promotion. This program lasted for five years until 2010.
