Tamela Vieira's work experience begins in 1998 as a Senior Associate in Financial Advisory Services at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where they managed teams, uncovered embezzlement schemes, and prepared partners for court testimony. In 2000, they joined Credit Suisse as VP of Risk Management, responsible for creating a new Financial Risk Control team and designing internal control processes. In 2004, they moved to BDO Seidman, LLP as a Director, introducing best practices and optimizing talent management. From 2006 to 2017, Vieira worked at Wharton Executive Education, initially as a Senior Director/Director for Custom Executive Education Programming and later as the Managing Director for Finance and Operations, where they oversaw financial and physical assets, led operational improvement initiatives, and contributed to the organization's financial health. From 2018 to 2022, they served as VP and Chief Financial Officer, and later as Chief Finance and Administration Officer, at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS). Currently, since July 2021, Vieira is the Executive Vice President at The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.
Tamela Vieira has a strong educational background with multiple degrees. Tamela obtained a Bachelor's degree in Comparative Area Studies and Sociology from Duke University, graduating between 1988 and 1992. Tamela then pursued further education at NYU Stern School of Business, where they earned a Master of Science (MS) in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Marketing, completing both degrees between 1993 and 1996.
In addition to their formal education, Tamela Vieira has also obtained several certifications. Tamela completed the "Develop Interpersonal Skills for Inclusive Workplaces" certification from LinkedIn in June 2023. In November 2022, they obtained the "Equity First: The Path to Inclusion and Belonging" certification. Earlier, in July 2022, they completed the "Inclusive Mindset for Committed Allies" certification. In December 2021, they obtained the "Communicating about Culturally Sensitive Issues" certification. Furthermore, in October 2021, Tamela completed the "Supporting the Whole Self at Work, a Diversity and Inclusion Imperative" certification. Finally, in July 2020, they received the "How to Project Vocal Confidence" certification from LinkedIn.
