Liz Smith has extensive experience in compliance management in the housing industry. Liz started their career in 1999 as a Compliance Manager at Tetra Property Management, where they stayed until 2006. In this role, they ensured compliance with housing program requirements through inspections, training, and staying up-to-date with regulations and laws. In 2006, Liz joined People's Self-Help Housing, where they held various roles, including Compliance Specialist, Compliance Manager, and currently, Director of Compliance. Their responsibilities at People's Self-Help Housing include auditing tenant files, training staff in program compliance, and maintaining the Yardi database.
Liz Smith attended the College of the Sequoias from 2001 to 2003, although their degree and field of study are not specified. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained the Novogradac Property Compliance Certification (NPCC) from Novogradac & Company LLP in April 2017. Prior to that, they earned the Site Compliance Specialist (SCS) certification from Elizabeth Moreland, Housing Credit College in July 2012, and the Certified Professional of Occupancy (CPO) certification from NAHMA in February 2012. Liz also completed the Vision Unida Community Building Institute in December 2008 and obtained the USDA-RD Farm Labor Occupancy Specialist certification in October 2006. Lastly, they acquired the USDA Rural Development Certified Manager certification from the California Council for Affordable Housing in July 1999.
