Virgil Goodwine II

Virgil Goodwine II, Ph.D., currently serves as the Chair of the School of Digital Humanities & Performing Arts at Wilberforce University since July 2021. Additionally, Virgil has held the position of Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Instrumental Music and Ensembles at the Percussive Arts Society since July 2020, contributing to the Marching Percussion Committee. As an endorsed artist for the Pearl Corporation and Vic Firth Company, Virgil also performs as a professional drummer for the Detroit Pistons and previously for the Detroit Lions. Prior experience includes directing instrumental music programs at Oak Park School District and Oak Park High School, overseeing multiple band programs, and developing educational curricula. Virgil holds a Ph.D. in Leadership in Higher Education, a Master of Science in Music Education, a Postgraduate Degree in Music Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.
