Gilbert Vicario

Chief Curator at Pérez Art Museum Miami

Gilbert Vicario is a prominent art curator currently serving as the Chief Curator at the Pérez Art Museum Miami since October 2022. Prior to this role, Vicario held key positions at the Phoenix Art Museum, including Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs and Selig Family Chief Curator from October 2015 to October 2022. From August 2009 to September 2015, Vicario was the Senior Curator at the Des Moines Art Center and previously worked as the Assistant Curator of Latin American and Latino Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, from August 2004 to July 2009. Vicario’s career also includes assistant curator roles at the Institute of Contemporary Art Boston and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Educational qualifications include a Master of Arts in Curatorial Studies from the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College and a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts from UC San Diego.
