Amber DiPietra has a diverse work experience spanning different fields. Amber is the Co-Founder of Pleasurable, where they utilize their skills as a Certified Sexological Bodyworker (CSB) and Sex Educator to provide trauma-informed somatic education for seniors, people with chronic illness, and adults with disabilities. Amber also worked as a Proyecto Vision Writer at the World Institute on Disability, where they wrote feature articles for newsletters highlighting Latino youth with disabilities.
At The Body Poetik, Amber serves as an Educator, Coach, and Consultant, offering their expertise as a teaching artist, bodyworker, and empowerment coach for organizations or individuals, with a particular focus on people with disabilities and sex workers. Amber is also a Sexological Bodyworker and Somatic Sex Educator at The Body Poetik, providing alternative touch-based therapy to help individuals heal body image issues and enhance body awareness.
In their role at Performance Art, Amber has extensive teaching experience in somatic and creative coaching, working with different organizations and individuals. Amber has conducted poetry classes at juvenile detention centers, recovery centers, and camp for blind children, among others. Amber is also the Writing Teacher/Community Builder for Write To Connect, where they conduct life writing workshops for the disability community and people with chronic illness.
Amber has previous experience as an Editor and Blog Curator at Kelsey St. Press. Amber has also worked as an Assistive Technology Educator/Transition and Diversion Facilitator at the Independent Living Resource Center San Francisco, where they helped individuals with disabilities with assistive technology and provided support for transition and diversion programs. Additionally, Amber worked as an Information and Resource Specialist at LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, providing information and referral services for blind and low vision individuals.
Earlier in their career, Amber served as an Academic Mentor for the Mayor's Youth Employment and Education Program (MYEEP), assisting low-income youth with learning disabilities in homework assistance, self-esteem counseling, and self-advocacy support.
Amber DiPietra pursued their higher education with enthusiasm, evident from their educational journey spanning several years. In 1997, they gained admission to the esteemed New College of Florida, where they dedicated herself to studying Literature. Over four years, from 1997 to 2001, they immersed herself in various subjects, including magical realism, folklore, critical theory, and contemporary poetics, culminating in the completion of their Bachelor of Arts degree.
Driven by their passion for the written word, Amber DiPietra continued their academic pursuits by enrolling at the California College of the Arts in 2002. Here, they pursued their Master of Fine Arts degree, specializing in Creative Writing. For two years, from 2002 to 2004, they honed their skills and delved deeper into the realm of literary creativity.
These two distinct educational experiences shaped Amber DiPietra's knowledge and expertise in literature, creative writing, magical realism, folklore, critical theory, and contemporary poetics.
