Karen Brennan

Senior Director, Preclinical And CMC Analytical Development at Perfuse Therapeutics

Karen Brennan has extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Karen is currently the Director of Analytical Development at Perfuse Therapeutics, a position they have held since March 2021. Prior to this, Karen worked at Aerie Pharmaceuticals from October 2015 to February 2021, where they served as the Manager of Analytical Sciences and Pre-Formulation in the R&D department. In this role, they led analytical chemistry discovery and development programs for ophthalmology products and managed the development and validation of analytical methods for cGMP testing.

Before joining Aerie Pharmaceuticals, Karen worked at GlaxoSmithKline from July 2004 to October 2015 as a Principal Investigator. In this role, they led analytical project milestones for early and late-stage products and provided support to drug product delivery teams. Karen has experience with various dosage forms, including tablets, capsules, suspensions, and soft gelatin capsules.

Prior to their time at GlaxoSmithKline, Karen worked at Targacept, Inc. from August 1999 to July 2004 as a Chemist III. In this position, they developed and validated analytical methods for pre-clinical and clinical APIs and intermediates.

Karen's early career experience includes working at International Paper from June 1998 to August 1999 as a Senior Process Engineer. In this role, they conducted trials to improve processes and reduce manufacturing costs in the pulp and paper business unit.

Karen Brennan completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry at Luther College from 1993 to 1996. Karen then pursued their Master's degree in Chemical Engineering with a specialization in Pulp and Paper Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 1996 to 1998.
