Vaughan Davies

Principal at Perkins Estman

After growing up in a remote area of South Africa, Vaughan Davies found himself living in one of the most-densely populated cities in the world—New York City—when he was a Fulbright scholar, and the city won his heart. Fast forward 30 years and Vaughan, an award-winning architect and urban designer, has created successful, complex projects in China, Brazil, Ireland, South Africa, and throughout the U.S. One secret of Vaughan’s dynamic waterfront developments, large-scale projects, transit centers, and mixed-use environments is they all emphasize the creation of pedestrian-first urban neighborhoods. Vaughan loves to kayak in some of the most desolate waters on earth such those in Alaska and Antarctica. While he enjoys kayaking, Vaughan lives in the desert, Palm Springs, where he mentors at-risk youth and aspiring young artists in his extra time.
