Robert Haselbeck

Robert Haselbeck worked as a Senior Research Fellow at Persephone Biosciences from July 2022 until their retirement in January 2023. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Microbiology at Persephone Biosciences from August 2018 to July 2022.

Before joining Persephone Biosciences, Haselbeck was self-employed as a Consultant in Microbiology from August 2017 to August 2018.

Robert also held the position of Principal Scientist at Genomatica from August 2007 to July 2017, where they contributed to the development of an E. coli strain capable of industrial-scale production of the plastics precursor 1,4-butanediol.

Robert Haselbeck began their education at Orange Coast College in 1977, where they pursued a transfer degree with an unspecified field of study. Robert went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from UC Irvine in 1983. Robert then continued their education at UC Irvine, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biological Sciences in 1993. Following this, they conducted post-doctoral research, first at UC San Diego from 1993 to 1995, focusing on Yeast Cellular Biology. From 1995 to 1998, Robert served as a Post Doctoral Associate at The Burnham Institute for Medical Research, specializing in Mouse Models of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
