Harriet Brown

Harriet Brown is a distinguished academic and author, currently serving as Program Director and Professor for the MND Graduate Program at Syracuse University since 2008. Brown has authored several notable books, including "Shadow Daughter: A Memoir of Estrangement" and "Body of Truth: How Science, History and Culture Drive Our Obsession with Weight--and What We Can Do About It." A prolific writer since 1980, Brown founded the nonprofit organization Maudsley Parents to support families dealing with eating disorders. Previous roles include working as an editorial director at Wisconsin Trails Magazine and a senior editor at American Girl magazine, as well as writing for major publishers such as HarperCollins and Random House. Brown holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Brooklyn College and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Lafayette College.
