Jane Peter has a diverse work experience, starting with their current role as the Interim Chief People Officer at Perth Airport. Prior to that, they served as the Director of the Executive Board at Asherah Foundation, which focuses on providing scholarships and support for women in higher education. Jane Peter attended Southern Cross University from 1996 to 1999, where they obtained a Bachelor of Educational Multimedia with a focus on Interactive Learning. Jane also completed a Bachelor's degree in Multimedia and Interactive Technology from the same university, starting in 1997 and finishing in 1999.

Jane Peter has also obtained several certifications. In November 2022, they completed the CEW Leaders Program offered by Chief Executive Women. Additionally, they were a finalist for the Excellence Awards in 2021 for both the Best Capability Building Program and the Best Blended Learning Solution. These awards were presented by the Australian Institute of Training & Development - AITD.
