Alan Wm. Wolff

Distinguished Visiting Fellow at Peterson Institute for International Economics

Alan Wm. Wolff is a distinguished expert in international trade with extensive experience in both legal practice and policy advisory roles. Currently serving as a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics since April 2021, Wolff previously held significant positions including Deputy Director-General at the World Trade Organization, where responsibilities encompassed multiple divisions related to trade policy, and Co-Acting Director General. As President of Alan Wm. Wolff PLLC, Wolff provided legal services to major international companies. Notable prior roles include Senior Counsel at Dentons US LLP, Chairman of the National Foreign Trade Council, and Co-Chair of the National Academies Innovation Policy Forum. Wolff's earlier career includes partnership at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP and Dewey Ballantine LLP, and academic contributions as a distinguished research professor at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. Wolff earned a JD from Columbia Law School, and an AB in Government from Harvard College.
