Gerhard Ersdal

Gerhard Ersdal serves as a Principal Engineer at Havtil- Havindustritilssynet since January 2024 and holds the position of Professor in offshore structures at the University of Stavanger since November 2012. Previously, Gerhard Ersdal worked at the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway from January 2004 to January 2024, fulfilling roles including Principal Engineer, Head of Section, and Research and Development Manager. Gerhard Ersdal began career as a Principal Engineer at the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate from February 1999 to December 2003 and at Multiconsult from January 1992 to January 1999. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Structural Safety from the University of Stavanger, completed between 2000 and 2005, a visiting PhD student program in Structural Reliability at ETH Zurich in 2003, and an MSc in Structural Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) from 1988 to 1991.
