Sonrisa MacHaria

Sonrisa Macharia is a Junior Engineer at ERG since August 2021, with a strong background in civil engineering and water resources. Previously, Macharia served as a Project Manager and Team Lead for Engineers Without Borders USA, contributing to the implementation of rainwater harvesting systems in Northern Rwanda, benefiting over 5,000 community members. Additional experience includes a role as a Research Assistant at the Straub Research Group, focusing on environmental technologies related to water-energy nexus, and serving as an Office Assistant at The BOLD Center, where support for students and event coordination were key responsibilities. Macharia began the professional journey as a Student Intern at Lockheed Martin, working in a virtual reality lab to enhance product design efficiency. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, supplemented by studies at University College Dublin.
