Mohamed Barakat

Piping Design Section Head at PGESCO

Mohamed Barakat has an extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Mohamed started their career as a Service Engineer in the Egyptian Air Force, where they were responsible for the operation and maintenance of electro-mechanical equipment. After completing their military service, they joined the National Gas Co. (NATGAS) as a Sales/Design and Technical Studies Senior Engineer. In this role, they conducted techno-economic studies and designed natural gas distribution networks, as well as negotiated proposals and contracts with customers.

After working at NATGAS, Mohamed Barakat joined Gaz de France as a Graduate Trainee-Internship. Here, they studied and analyzed existing natural gas distribution networks for cities and developed techno-economic studies to remove network constraints. Mohamed also prepared drawings and worksheets required for construction.

Most recently, Mohamed Barakat has been working at PGESCo as a Piping Design Section Head. In this role, they manage piping design and detailed engineering activities for power mega projects, petrochemical plants, water treatment, and electromechanical projects. Mohamed utilizes 3D modeling platforms and 2D drafting tools for their work and estimates bill of quantity for piping in bidding and FEED activities.

Overall, Mohamed Barakat has gained a strong background in engineering and project management throughout their career.

Mohamed Barakat has a diverse education history. Mohamed completed their Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Power at Cairo University from 1989 to 1996. Following that, they pursued further studies and obtained a Master's Degree in Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics- Energy Engineering from Toulouse INP between 2004 and 2006. Mohamed also holds a qualifying Egyptian High school degree, known as "Thanaweya Amma," which they obtained from Collège de la Salle in Cairo, Egypt, from 1975 to 1989.

In addition to their formal education, Mohamed Barakat has obtained several certifications from LinkedIn. Mohamed obtained these certifications between 2022 and 2023.

Moreover, Mohammed Barakat is a Chartered Engineer, which they achieved from the Institution of Mechanical Engineer in August 2022.
