Nicolas Cifuentes Muñoz has an extensive work experience in various research and teaching roles in the field of microbiology/virology. Nicolas currently serves as the Head of Research Projects & Phages at PhageLab, where they lead and guides the Research Projects & Phages group. Prior to this, they worked as an Adjunct Professor in Molecular Virology at Fundación Ciencia & Vida from 2018 to 2022. Nicolas also held positions as an Assistant Professor at Universidad Austral de Chile from May 2021 to September 2021, and at Universidad Autónoma de Chile from March 2019 to April 2021.

Additionally, Nicolas worked as a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine from October 2014 to February 2019. Nicolas also gained research experience at Fundación Ciencia & Vida, where they served as a Postdoctoral Researcher from August 2011 to October 2014, and as a Research Investigator (PhD thesis) from March 2006 to July 2011. Furthermore, they worked as an Adjunct Professor at Universidad Andres Bello from March 2006 to July 2013.

Nicolas Cifuentes Muñoz has a strong education history in the field of biotechnology, virology, and biochemistry. Nicolas completed their Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Biochemistry at the Universidad de Santiago de Chile from 1999 to 2004. Nicolas then pursued further education at the same university, completing a degree in Biochemist from 2004 to 2005. Nicolas continued their studies at the Universidad Andres Bello, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biotechnology, with a specialization in Virology, from 2006 to 2011.
