Akil Akberali

Director Of Finance & Operations at PharmAccess

Akil Akberali has extensive work experience in finance and operations. Akil worked at PharmAccess Foundation Tanzania as the Director of Finance & Operations from November 2011 onwards. Prior to that, they served as the Senior Finance Manager/HOD at the same organization from June 2006 to October 2011. Before joining PharmAccess, Akil worked at The Aga Khan Hospital, Dar es Salaam for over a decade. During their tenure there, they held the position of Head Management Accounting and was responsible for various financial functions, including budget development and management, cash flow forecasting and management, auditing and compliance, and supervision of staff. Akil also played a key role in maintaining and reconciling accounts for a major redevelopment project worth $12 million.

Akil Akberali's education history begins in 1989 when they attended Aga Khan Mzizima Secondary School and obtained a Certificate of Secondary Education - "O" Level. After completing their secondary education, they pursued further studies and from 1994 to 2003, they attended the National Board of Accountants & Auditors (NBAA) where they earned a degree in Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Tanzania, specializing in Accounting & Finance.

In 2004, Akil joined the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade in Delhi, India, collaborating with the Institute of Finance Management (IFM) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Akil pursued an MBA (International Business) during this period. Following their MBA, in 2008, Akil returned to the National Board of Accountants & Auditors (NBAA) where they obtained an additional certification as an Associate Certified Public Accountant (ACPA) in Tanzania, once again focusing on Accounting & Finance.
