Chief Conservation Officer at Pheasants Forever

Ron Leathers has extensive experience in the conservation and wildlife management field. Ron began their career in 1999 as a Resource Associate at the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies. In 2000, they joined Nebraska Game and Parks as an Ag Programs Wildlife Biologist. In 2003, they moved to Pheasants Forever, Inc. where they worked as a Farm Bill Biologist and later as a Government Grants Coordinator. At Pheasants Forever, they developed grant administration systems and processes and coordinated the transition to centralized grant administration. In 2006, they became the Public Finance Director at Pheasants Forever, overseeing core business functions and managing relationships with key federal partners. In their most recent role as the Chief Conservation Officer, they provided strategic direction and executive leadership to the organization's mission-delivery functions, including conservation programs, advocacy efforts, and education and outreach initiatives.

Ron Leathers completed their education with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from Hamline University, from 2013 to 2015. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Wildlife Science from South Dakota State University, between 2001 and 2003. Ron began their academic journey by pursuing a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Wildlife Management from the University of Wyoming, which they successfully obtained from 1993 to 1999.
