Ms. Hopkins, founder, and president of PHI Environmental Consulting (1998) has over 35 years of experience with environmental, health and safety regulatory analysis and management system implementation. Through her leadership, PHI Environmental Consulting has been in the forefront of promoting integration of environmental, health & safety and energy management systems. Her past environmental experience includes work as an Industrial Hygienist, Environmental Engineer, and Senior Project Manager.
In addition to supporting clients’ efforts to achieve third party certification or self certification, Ms. Hopkins has designed new and innovative products to assist clients with their training and document retention needs. These products include their Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) and Energy Management System Databases, web-integrated e-learning tools, Contractor Management databases, Corrective/Preventive Action databases, Compliance Tracking Systems and Project Review/Management of Change databases. These tools have served as very effective implementation tools and integration tools for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, MSE 50021 and IATF 16949 systems. The tools have allowed their clients to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, streamline their record-keeping efforts and achieve cost reductions.
As a consultant, Ms. Hopkins has provided EHS support to many industrial clients including Mack Trucks Corporation, Volvo Truck Corporation, Bosch Rexroth, Ford Motor Company, Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Penta Marine, Volvo Aero, Volvo Powertrain, Steel Dynamics, Arkansas Steel, Nestle Purina, Bosh Rexroth, Gerdau Steel, Meridian Automotive Systems, Detroit Diesel (a Daimler facility), Johns Manville, Subaru of America, the U.S. Army, and numerous other facilities.
Ms. Hopkins worked with Georgia Tech and the Department of Energy (DOE) to certify the first facility in the U.S. (Volvo New River Valley Plant) to the new ISO 50001/MSE 50021 Standards (Platinum). Ms. Hopkins worked with Pennsylvania State University and DOE to certify Mack Trucks Lehigh Valley Operations (LVO) to ISO 50001/MSE 50021 as part of the Northeast Demonstration project and LVO was the first facility in the US to achieve a Mature Platinum energy certification (MSE 50021 Superior Energy Performance).
