Jamie Mitchell

Chief Operating Officer - Europe, Middle East, Africa at PHI

Jamie Mitchell has extensive work experience in the field of search and rescue, serving in various roles and organizations over the years.

In 1994, Jamie began their career in the Royal Navy as a Helicopter Pilot/Instructor, a role they held until 2004. They then joined the Royal Air Force, where they served as a Search and Rescue Helicopter Commander/Instructor from 2004 to 2013. During this time, Jamie also took on the responsibility of Officer Commanding Search & Rescue Training Unit (SARTU) from 2010 to 2012.

In 2013, Jamie transitioned to Brunei Shell Petroleum and worked as the Search and Rescue (helicopter) Project Manager from 2013 to 2015, followed by the role of Head of Search and Rescue from 2015 to 2019.

Jamie Mitchell joined Surrey Search & Rescue as a volunteer in October 2021.

As of April 2022, Jamie is working as the Chief Operating Officer for Europe, Middle East, and Africa at PHI Aviation. Before this position, they held the role of General Manager (EMEA) at PHI International from 2019 to 2022.

Jamie Mitchell attended Cranleigh School from 1984 to 1989. Following this, from 1990 to 1993, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Geography at Royal Holloway, University of London.
